Student Engagement Opportunities with State Conservation Partners

This project aimed to duild engagement outside of the classroom by creating recurring student projects with state conservation
partners. By providing opportunities to work alongside professional scientists, students were empowered to strive for careers that focus on the conservation of biodiversity and natural resources. Initially, projects entailed monitoring species of conservation concern and gaining exposure to modern methods and tools. The goal was to then work to convert these activities into funded internship programs hosted by our partners.

Mapping the student engagement journey: Understanding how undergraduate students navigate the student engagement landscape

This project focused on two areas-  the theoretical: analyzing of how Penn State students navigate student engagement experiences and the practical: providing opportunities for student engagement where the Libraries is a supporter and provider of these opportunities.  To analyze the student engagement experience, Hailley Fargo employed a technique called journey mapping to understand what the student journeys through engagement look like, what resources they utilize, and what may be missing from their experiences.  Fargo also created opportunities for engagement with the library through library-centric internships.

The course focused on urban artforms, community engagement, and issues of social justice expressed in street art and traditional artforms
